Not long ago, a roof took weeks to build. Today it can be ready in a few days. And anyone who has built a house – or watched one being built up close – knows how important it is to get this stage right.
For years, the standard was much the same everywhere. Timber arrived on site, where a carpentry crew cut, fitted, and assembled it by hand. The end result depended on the crew's experience, the weather, and how much time was available. Today more and more investors choose a different route: the roof structure is built beforehand in a factory, arrives on site as a finished product, and is installed within days. That's exactly what prefabricated roof trusses are.
It's not just about saving time. For many investors, predictable costs, high build quality, and lower risk of on-site errors matter just as much.
What Are Prefabricated Roof Trusses?
Prefabricated roof trusses are ready-made structural elements manufactured at our MABUDO plant in Zduńska Wola, based on a structural design and detailed static calculations. At MABUDO we produce them from certified C24-grade spruce timber, which is:
- kiln-dried,
- planed on all four sides,
- quality-checked,
- prepared to match the design requirements.
The individual structural elements are joined using MiTek® punched metal plates, which ensure high load-bearing capacity and stable connections. The finished trusses then go to the building site, where they form the complete roof structure.
Why Are More Roofs Being Built in the Factory Instead of On Site?
There are several reasons. Above all, prefabrication moves most of the work from the building site into controlled factory conditions. That means:
- greater precision,
- consistent quality,
- shorter build time,
- lower risk of workmanship errors,
- less construction waste.
MiTek® Technology and C24 Timber – Why Do They Matter?
The connections are a critical part of any prefabricated truss. MiTek® technology uses special punched metal plates, pressed into the timber under high pressure. This creates very strong joints capable of carrying heavy loads – and it's exactly this technology that makes it possible to design wide-span structures while keeping the whole system stable.
Timber quality has a direct effect on how long the whole structure lasts, which is why we use C24-grade structural timber that has gone through kiln drying. The benefits: high structural strength, better dimensional stability, lower risk of warping and cracking, controlled moisture content, and compliance with the standards used in structural construction.
What Happens Before a Truss Reaches the Building Site?
One of the biggest advantages of prefabrication is that the whole process is planned in detail before installation even begins. At MABUDO, it works like this:
- 1. Project analysis – the client sends the documentation or roof plan.
- 2. Quotation – a free quote is prepared based on the project.
- 3. Structural design – our engineers carry out the static calculations and build the model in MiTek® software.
- 4. Production – the trusses are manufactured at the MABUDO plant in Zduńska Wola.
- 5. Delivery and installation – the finished elements arrive on site, where installation usually takes 1 to 3 working days.
Traditional Timber Framing or Prefabricated Trusses? The Key Differences
Both approaches have their place, but the differences stand out best side by side:
| Aspect | Traditional framing | Prefabricated trusses |
|---|---|---|
| Where it's made | Built on site | Manufactured in a factory |
| Installation time | Can take several weeks | Usually 1–3 days |
| Waste | More construction waste | Minimized waste |
| Quality | Highly dependent on the crew | Consistent factory-level quality |
| Weather impact | Work depends on the weather | Most work done under a factory roof |
| Error risk | Higher risk of workmanship errors | Design based on static calculations |
Key Parameters of Prefabricated Roof Trusses
Key technical data for the structures manufactured at MABUDO:

| Production | MABUDO plant in Zduńska Wola |
| Installation time | Usually 1–3 days |
| Marking | CE |
| Maximum span | Up to 30 m without intermediate supports |
| Applications | Houses, housing developments, halls, warehouses, agriculture |
| Waste volume | Minimal thanks to prefabrication |
Not Just Single-Family Homes – Where Are Trusses Used?
Prefabricated trusses are used across many types of projects: single-family homes (the most common choice, thanks to fast installation), housing developments (they shorten the schedule for each phase), halls and warehouses (wide spans without intermediate supports), and agricultural or farm buildings (a durable, cost-effective structure for large objects).
Our structures reach investors across Poland – including Warsaw, Kraków, Poznań, Szczecin, Kołobrzeg, and Łódź. We also handle international projects, supplying structures to Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Norway. That experience lets us design solutions suited both to small houses and to large buildings with spans of up to 30 meters without intermediate supports.
Production and Installation Under One Partner's Control
At MABUDO, prefabricated trusses are part of a broader production process – besides roof structures, our plant also makes prefabricated gable walls, POSI beams, and precast concrete elements. For houses built by MABUDO, this means full coordination between the production of the concrete precast, the roof structure, and the installation – everything is made within a single process.
Quality is overseen by our in-house factory production control system. MABUDO holds a Certificate of Conformity for factory production control, issued by an independent certification body and verified every year. The trusses also carry the CE mark. If you'd like to explore the options for your project, send us the roof plan or documentation – we'll prepare an individual quote and a structural proposal.
FAQ – prefabricated roof trusses: installation, cost and durability
How long does it take to install prefabricated roof trusses?
In most projects, installation takes 1 to 3 working days, depending on the size and complexity of the structure.
How much do prefabricated roof trusses cost?
The price depends on the roof geometry, the span of the structure, the type of project, and the scope of the order. To get an accurate quote, just send us the design or roof plan.
Are prefabricated trusses durable?
Yes. The structures are designed based on static calculations and built from certified C24-grade structural timber.
What span can roof trusses achieve?
For industrial, commercial, and warehouse buildings, the span can reach up to 30 meters without intermediate supports.
Can a usable attic be built with trusses?
Yes. The structure can be designed for either a usable or a non-usable attic.
Can I order just the trusses without building a MABUDO house?
Yes. We design, manufacture, and deliver prefabricated trusses both for clients building MABUDO houses and for investors running their own independent projects.
Does MABUDO also design the roof structure?
Yes. Based on the building design or roof plan, we prepare the structural documentation, static calculations, and a complete design for the prefabricated trusses.
Do MABUDO trusses have the required certifications?
Yes. The trusses carry the CE mark, and the production plant holds a Certificate of Conformity for factory production control, issued by an independent certification body and verified every year.
